HI THERE.
My name is Christina Stivali. I am a German-Italian photographer. The focus of my work is on portraying people and environments.
I was born in Kronach, Germany, and raised in Rome, Italy. After having done both my German and Italian A-Levels at the long-established Deutsche Schule Rom I first moved to Edinburgh, Scotland, and studied Architecture for some semesters. I had always had a strong interest in the staging of spaces but I soon realized that constructing real houses was not quite the right thing for me.
I took off for Berlin, a place that – in contrast to Rome – always has been constantly radically changing, especially at the dawn of the Millennium. I always felt the need of tinkering my own world, so photography became my perfect playground. After early assistances it clicked and the way forward was clear. I began my photography studies in 2005 at Lette Verein Berlin where I graduated in 2008. I worked as an assistant to many renowned photographers and have always been drawn to technology, lighting and post-production. I am obsessed with colour (dis-)harmonies.
My career as a freelance photographer began in 2008. I love working both in teams on elaborate sets and on tender long-term documentary projects. I love capturing moments in-between, understanding my world graphically and subtly grading images. Clients value my gentle approach to models and my precise technical skills.
In 2015 I returned to Lette Verein as a lecturer in photography and post-production. In 2018 I started giving workshops for the Universität der Künste (UdK) Berlin and ever since 2020 I have also been giving workshops for the International Photography School (IPS) Berlin. In 2020 I founded the creative agency TURBOTURBO together with my husband.
I speak German, Italian, English and a bit of French and I like driving cars and motorcycles, of course. I shoot, teach and live in Berlin.
My clients include:
Aggro Berlin, Allianz, Bayer, Bundesmusikverband Chor & Orchester (BMCO), Dahlem Humanities Center, Freie Universität (FU) Berlin, Grundy UFA, Johannesstift Diakonie, Kaisers, Kaufland, Magdalena Mayrock, Microsoft, Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR), PEIX health group, Pilsner Urquell, Stereofysh, Trixter, Universal Music
